75 Stories: Allen Blower, Senior Vice President
2021 marks the 75th Anniversary for Clark Construction Company. To celebrate, we’re using our employee’s voices to explain the impact Clark has made to our fellow teammates, communities, and clients. This is Allen’s story.
My 75th story relates to my first interview with Clark. When I showed up at the door that morning almost 23 years ago, I was welcomed by the most polite, cordial, and friendly person, Gary Ciampa, who was a Director at Clark. Gary took me into his office and we chatted for about 10 minutes. We talked about what I was currently doing and my career background. We had a few discussions and even a little razzing about being a U of M fan (as he was clearly a die-hard MSU guy), then we moved into Randy Jobin’s office for further discussion. John Clark, Ken Lawless, Chuck Clark, and Gerald Boerner stopped in to meet me and talk.
My entire interview was not a discussion about work, but talking about farming, tractors, hunting, sports and most importantly, family. I was only there about an hour and half and when I walked out that day I told myself that I did not care what they offered me, but that I wanted to work for Clark. Over two decades later and about 1,000 other stories about my home-away-from-home and I can truly tell you that the culture has not only remained, but has only become better over time.
During my time at Clark, I have seen the good times in the economy and the rough ones and through all of that the one thing that was protected at all times: the people. Thanks to the Clark Family for all the memories.
