Since starting my career at Clark Construction in March 2004 there has been plenty of time for numerous stories. So many so that selecting just one is nearly impossible!
I have had the opportunity to work on many different types of rewarding projects throughout my years at Clark. Iconic buildings at Michigan State, University of Michigan, Ferris State, and Kettering University. Two major casinos and a hotel. A train station in Troy. New Jails and Sheriff’s Offices for Livingston County, Branch County, and currently Isabella County. A police station/headquarters in Marshal. The Michigan State Police Headquarters in Lansing. The 911 call center in Lansing. A new Convention Center for the city of Muskegon. Several large K-12 School Projects. Hospitals and Medical Facilities. Many Retail projects and developments not only in Michigan but in other parts of the country. While these are just the projects we were awarded and built, there have been a billion dollars or more of Pre-Construction work that I have worked on that never went forward, but were still exciting opportunities.
While these projects are all great, the real story for me is the people of Clark Construction that I have come to know over the past 17 years. If you deduct the hours that we sleep in a day the remaining hours are almost equally split between your work “family” and your actual family. I have called on members of my work family many times for help, advice, and special favors. Never once has anyone refused to help me and most have gone over and above to provide it, despite their own busy schedules. I have attended weddings, funerals, birthdays and retirement parties with members of my work family. I have stayed in other’s homes/cottages for hunting/fishing or shooting outings. Card parties and sporting events, or just to hang out together for a good time. There have been many shared meals, hotel stays, plane flights and car trips to attend specific project meetings or training events.
All these things have each created many a great story and generated thousands of laughs. Impossible to pick just one!
