Our sincere approach to support and leadership extends to a number of important outreach programs and advocacy initiatives.
At Clark, we commit to support and empower the heroes who have served our country and continue to serve. We believe in the strength, dedication, and unique skills that veterans bring to the table. Clark has implemented a robust hiring policy that prioritizes veterans and family members of veterans, recognizing their invaluable contributions to our workforce. We actively seek out and welcome veterans to join our team, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace that not only values their military experience but also provides opportunities for growth and career development.
Our commitment to hiring veterans goes beyond mere rhetoric. We currently employ many who have served and those who continue to serve in active duty and reserve. We actively collaborate with local veteran support organizations such as the VFW National Home in Lansing, the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and create partnerships with local and state veteran organizations to facilitate a smooth transition from military service to the civilian workforce. We have also signed Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) pledge. Through targeted recruitment efforts, mentorship programs, and ongoing support, we ensure that veterans feel valued, understood, and equipped to thrive in the construction profession.
Our internship program focuses on developing career-long employees who are developed and trained with the proper guidance and mentorship along the way.
Each summer, between 25 to 35 students participate in our robust internship program on jobsites and in the four office locations across the State of Michigan. We encourage students who are enrolled in construction management, architectural, civil, or another relevant degree program to apply. We seek out our interns in the Fall and spots fill up quickly. We also offer a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship to support women, BIPOC, and persons with disabilities to create an equitable playing field for the construction industry. We have many interns at Clark who have gone on to full-time team members.
Interns learn in a hands-on manner, working side by side with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents as well as our trade partners and architectural partners. Interns are a valuable member of each project team, and the mentorship offered allows each intern to apply the education that they’ve received to the field tasks at hand, including but not limited to project administration tasks, and submittal, change order, RFI, punch list, inspection logs and trade hour management. This positive experience often results in our interns finding a permanent home at Clark once they are complete with their education.
