The Ferris State University Michigan College of Optometry is a 91,000 sq.ft. building that provides flexible, state-of-the-art classroom, laboratory, and clinical spaces, along with faculty offices and administrative areas for the Michigan College of Optometry and other departments. State-of-the-art computer laboratories, including network support facilities, are used by students. The facility features distance learning capabilities, a teaching auditorium, and a student, faculty, and staff lounge/library.
The ground floor hosts an optometry clinic that serves as the Center for Interdisciplinary Diabetic Care (Optometry, Pharmacy, and Nursing), providing eye and vision services to students, faculty, staff, as well as residents of Mecosta County and the surrounding region.
Constructed with reinforced concrete masonry units and brick veneer, the building utilizes structural steel framing and features innovative voice and data communication systems. The project also included the addition of new parking areas, landscaping enhancements, and effective stormwater management solutions.
