New 262,000 sq.ft. facility located on a 50-acre site in Delta Township, the new M-TEC/TTC Facility was the first structure to be built outside the college’s downtown campus. The center’s training specifically targets workers in information technology, construction, manufacturing and automotive occupations. The center also houses other LCC technical training programs including architecture, interior design, agriculture, and horticulture.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Geothermal heating and cooling with 250 wells located under the parking lot, installed to a depth of 250’ with continuous loop tubing. 150 water-to-air heat pumps are located throughout the building.
  • A mock production line, in partnership with General Motors, where miniature cars are built and tested for accuracy.
  • A $1 million relationship with the U.S. Dept. of Energy put LCC in the national spotlight as a leader in heating and air conditioning systems and the training in and use of alternative energy.
  • The machine shop, with over $500,000 worth of machinery provided by Gerotech and Haas Automation, served as a demonstration site for employers around the region.
  • Mechanics-in-training have a 16-car bay, complete with a center to test vehicles, and the latest diagnostic machinery.
  • The facility has enough space to construct buildings indoors by students in the residential construction program.
