Michigan State Police Forensics Laboratory

 

New state-of-the-art Forensics Science Laboratory containing seven laboratories (complete DNA, toxicology, latent print, photo analysis, computer crime, polygraph, and firearms) with supporting administrative offices, instrumentation, storage vaults, cold rooms, archives, and a crime vehicle garage.

The structure is single story, steel framed masonry with brick veneer and a standing seam roof system. A skylight system provides natural light to the laboratory areas. Sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems; extensive laboratory furniture and lab hood layout.

A deionized water system supplies high purity water through a series of cartridges, carbon filters and an ultraviolet sterilizer. Tempered air is supplied through two built-up air-handling houses located in the penthouse area. Primary electrical service is provided through a tunnel system and a surge suppression system is incorporated for protection of electric and electronic equipment. All areas are monitored through a multiplex fire detection system and the building has a fire sprinkler system throughout.
