The Waterside Market Place project included complete site development of an 87-acre greenfield site with mitigation of 12 acres of wetlands. A major undertaking was relocation of the Pitts Drain from the middle of the site to the southern edge of the development.
This upscale shopping center is unique in that approximately one-third of the site is green space, which is one of the most striking features of the development. Access to the site was provided with construction of a new 3-lane roadway, including new traffic signals, extending from 23 Mile Road to Cotton Road. The roadway improvements make the site easily accessible from I-94.
Scope of work included construction of approximately 455,000 sq.ft of retail space, with JC Penney, Old Navy, TJ Maxx, Bed Bath and Beyond, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Best Buy as anchor stores, and up to 25 additional tenants.
